Our Story

Since 1986, Jansz has been devoted exclusively to sparkling wine. Crafted using the principles of Méthode Tasmanoise and shaped by a long, cool growing season, our wines reflect their origin with clarity and finesse. Tasmania is unquestionably the nation’s premier sparkling wine region. By allowing nature to do the work, our wines are naturally expressive of our Tasmanian home. Where is Jansz Tasmania located, and how do I get there?

You can find us at Pipers River, approximately one hour’s drive from Launceston. Jansz is an ideal choice if you’re planning to visit a winery near Launceston, with the scenic route through Pipers River offering a relaxed introduction to the region’s cool-climate vineyards. The drive itself becomes part of the experience, setting the tone for your winery visit in Tasmania.

 
What are the opening hours?

Our Wine Room is open Thursday to Monday, 10am to 5pm. During the cooler months, we operate slightly shorter hours of 11am to 4pm, allowing our team (and our vines) to embrace the seasonal rhythm of Pipers River.

We recommend arriving with plenty of time to settle in, relax and truly enjoy the experience.

 
Do I need to book in advance?

Yes. Bookings are strongly encouraged. Our Wine Room is intimate by design, offering a personalised, relaxed tasting experience overlooking the vineyard. As a result, we frequently reach capacity, particularly on weekends and during peak travel periods.

Booking ahead ensures we can welcome you properly and guide you through a memorable winery visit in Tasmania without disappointment.

 
Is it family-friendly?

While Jansz is first and foremost a sparkling wine house, we understand that exploring Tasmania often involves the whole family. We simply ask that children remain supervised at all times to help maintain the calm and relaxed atmosphere our guests value.
